Should Christians celebrate Christmas?

The shorts answer is: Yes.

Some argue that we shouldn’t because Christmas borrows many rituals from pagans. I disagree. Christianity does not borrowg anything from the pagans. Rather it is the pagans that are borrowing from the divine revelation which was soon to be manifested physically in Jesus Christ.

On one of their many walks around Magdalen College, JRR Tolkien explained to Lewis that myths were not merely lies because humans are not “ultimately” liars. The very human act of making myths, “mythopeia,” to express truth, was also part of God’s self-expression of eternal truth.

Family – God’s Original Design

With free will, God gave every person the right to choose what life he or she wants. God does not force His own will on our life choices. God appreciates that we may have our own opinion of what’s best; that we have our own tastes, desires, and values.

God is empathic and he understands us. But do we understand Him? Do we understand that God also has a choice, a will, an opinion, a taste, a desire, and values? Its the divine design in the mind of God. One that we may choose to disagree with, but one which we should perhaps concider, since He is the creator and designer of all of mankind. He knows us better than we know ourselves, and He has a deeper understanding of human nature than any of us. He has created, shaped and watched every human that has ever lived and will ever live. God has seen and analyzed the outcome of billions of different choices.

Letter to Jesus People #1

Dear Jesus People  Originally written Aug 2010

I am Dan, the son of Linda Meissner. I have been asked to share with you what the Lord has laid on my heart.

I have dedicated my life to expanding the kingdom of God ever since I was a little child, mainly through worship. I have ministered in such various places as the Presidential Palace in Kiev, for the Latvian government in Riga, and on Swedish national television in ”Battle of the Choirs”. I currently direct four gospel choirs in Sweden. A warm greeting also to you from my precious wife, Mary, and our son, Emmanuel-Luke. It is our hope that we will soon be able to visit you all, and share with you in the fellowship of the Lord Jesus Christ.

My view on Islam and Muslims

Here’s a question I get all the time, and it goes something like this: “Dear Dan. I see you’re friends with Muslims on Facebook, and sometimes you even share links about Islam on your own page. Why? What’s your take on Islam? And do you believe it’s proper for a Christian minister like yourself to associate with Muslims?”
