Seven minutes with Adam & Eve

This first podcast is part of a series called “Seven minutes with…” in which I go through the Bible, starting with the book of Genesis.

My podcast generally fall into four categories: faith, music, life style or politics. I divide each of the four categories into subcategories (tags). This series, “Seven minutes with…”, falls into the overarching category of Faith, and the subcategory (tag) of “Know your Bible” or “Redemptive-Historical/Biblical Theology”.

In todays episode I talk about Adam & Eve, and how they were called to tend, cultivate and guard God’s finished work.

In order to get a systematic, well-balanced word-diet, I will be blending four kinds of topics into the overarching category of “Faith”. Choose the topic (tag) that interests you the most, or listen to a mix for the best spiritual diet. Here is a list of the four subcategories (tags) for you information. I hope you enjoy listening to the podcast!

1st subcategory: “Know your Bible”

(Redemptive-Historical/Biblical Theology)

The Bible was written by over 40 authors, in 3 languages, on 3 continents, over a span of 1,500 years, and covers hundreds of controversial subjects. Yet, the authors all spoke with agreement; from Genesis to Revelation, there is one unfolding story–God’s redemption of mankind. In “Know your Bible” we zoom in on what the Bible teaches, one book and passage at the time. Common themes are redemption, grace, and the centrality of Jesus Christ.

2nd subcategory: “One faith”

(Systematic/Doctrinal Theology)

Human beings are naturally inclined to be one-sided. One tends to be intellectualistic, another tends to be emotional, and still another tends to be activistic. We should be all these at once and in harmony. The study of “One faith” will help us to keep and develop our spiritual balance. It enables us to avoid paying attention only to that which, by virtue of our temperament, appeals to us. Topic by topic we look at what the Bible has to say.

3rd subcategory: “Answers”

(Natural/Apologetic Theology)

Scripture commands us to be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks us about our beliefs and to earnestly contend for the faith (1 Pet. 3:15 and Jude 3). “Answers” provides empirical proof to the nonbeliever as to why he ought to choose Christianity. It demonstrates that Christianity is not a blind leap into a dark chasm, but rather, faith founded on fact. We examine the evidences for the ressurection of Jesus Christ and for Intelligent Design, whilst refuting the claims of Atheism.

4th subcategory: “Destined to reign”

(Missional/Public Theology)

The central theme of “Destined to reign” is the Gospel of the Kingdom. “The kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High” (Daniel 7:27). It emphasises the calling of each believer to be ambassadors of and co-regents with Christ. It covers social and cultural analysis, political involvement, and social ethics. It aims at overcoming the privatized and domesticated view of faith which has long restricted Christian influence .
