Worshipnotes #3
God has always wanted His children to enjoy times of refreshing. But as in all times, His love can only reach us when we leave our sins behind and repent of our self-centered ways. “How often I wanted to gather you together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings…”(Mat 23:37). These are the words of a compassionate Jesus, crying out to you and I, as surely as He is “a father to the fatherless and a defender of the widows” (Ps 68:5). His promises to us are plenty: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelms you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.” (Isa 43:2).
From the beginning of times it has been the desire of our heavenly Father that we would turn from our sinful ways to the shadow of His protective wings. We can hear the promise of our heavenly Father, pleading for us to turn from our sinfulness to Him: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” (Acts 3:19).
Then we will be able to reply: “Lord, ‘Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell. Behold You are there’” (Ps 139:7-8). That is when we know that our Father in Heaven truly cares about us. Then we know that His presence is with us, always. We know that we are His.
When we make a final an irrevocable decision that now I want to press in to Jesus. When we make Him our most cherished treasure that we guard jealously. We don’t want to loose Him and we don’t want to offer our love to anything that is not of Him. Yes, When we seek Him with all our hearts, that is when He can be found! “Draw near to God and He will draw near to You.” (Jam 4:8).
If we would just dare believe Him, that His love is pure and true, and that He won’t let us down as others may have, then we can leave the enemies camp and settle at the feet of Jesus. When will we awaken out of our sleep, throw of the chains, and run to Jesus? When? Tomorrow? Why not today? Let us run to Jesus. Then we will discover that His love does not dissapoint. Rather it satisfies us, fully. Amen.
